How to hide YouTube recommendations

YouTube can stop filling your Home feed, but only if you give up your watch history, and Up next keeps going anyway. FeedCut hides the Home feed, Up next and comments with one switch each, and keeps your history and subscriptions as they are.

Coming soon to Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera · Free · No account

Turn on Hide Up next or Hide comments. Then open Home and try Hide Home feed.

What YouTube offers built-in

  • Pause watch history. With history off and little of it saved, YouTube leaves the Home feed empty. The cost: no history to go back to, and recommendations on watch pages carry on. See why Home goes blank.
  • Not interested and Don’t recommend channel. They tune what you are shown, one video or channel at a time. The feed itself stays. If the same videos keep coming back, see why YouTube repeats itself.
  • Comments. There is no switch to hide them while watching.

How to hide recommendations with FeedCut

  1. Install FeedCut

From the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, Firefox Add-ons or Opera add-ons. No account needed.

  2. Turn on the switches you need

Hide Home feed leaves just the search box. Hide Up next clears the sidebar and end-screen suggestions. Hide comments removes the comment section.

  3. Block what still pulls you in

Prefer to keep the feed? Leave it on and block the channels and words that waste your time instead.

What each switch hides

SwitchWhat goesWhat stays
Hide Home feedThe recommended grid on youtube.comSearch, Subscriptions, Library, playlists
Hide Up nextThe sidebar on watch pages and end-screen suggestionsThe video, its description, your playlist queue
Hide commentsThe comment section under videosEverything else
Hide ShortsAll Shorts shelves, the tab, Shorts in searchLong videos

Need the feed for a moment?

Each switch works on its own, so you can bring back just the Home feed and keep Up next hidden. Or pause FeedCut for 10 minutes: everything comes back, then hides again by itself.

Limits

  • Desktop browsers only. The YouTube apps for phones and TVs keep their feeds.
  • YouTube still learns from what you watch. FeedCut changes what you see, not your account. Clear or pause history in your Google settings if you want that too; resetting recommendations walks through it.

Questions

Can you turn off recommendations on YouTube?

Partly. If you pause watch history and have little history saved, YouTube stops filling the Home feed. But you lose your history, and Up next keeps suggesting videos. FeedCut hides the Home feed and Up next without touching your history.

Will I still see my subscriptions?

Yes. Subscriptions, search and your playlists stay. Only the feeds YouTube picks for you are hidden.

Can I hide comments on YouTube?

Yes, with one switch. Or keep comments and hide only those from blocked channels and with your blocked words.

Does autoplay still start the next video?

Turn autoplay off with YouTube’s own switch under the player. With Up next hidden, there is nothing left to pull you along.
