It depends whose comments they are. On your own channel, YouTube Studio’s blocked words list holds back comments that contain or closely match your words, for you to review. As a viewer, YouTube has no keyword filter at all. FeedCut fills that gap on a computer: words on your list hide matching comments under every video, replies included.

Type drama into Hide videos with a word. The comment that mentions it leaves, and the rest stay.

Click its icon in the browser toolbar while on YouTube.
Type it into Hide videos with a word and press Enter. Phrases work too.
Any comment containing the word is gone, along with its replies. Comments without it are untouched.
The same list also hides videos that have the word in the title or the channel name. That’s usually what you want for a spoiler or a topic you’re avoiding, but it matters for broad words: “crypto” on the list removes crypto comment spam and every crypto video along with it.
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| Case doesn’t matter | giveaway catches “GIVEAWAY” and “Giveaway”. |
| Part of a word counts, by default | scam also catches “scammer” and “scams”. |
| Whole word, if you tick it | art with Whole word on catches “art” but not “start” or “party”. |
| Styled letters are read as plain ones | Comments written in 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 or full-width letters to dodge filters still match. |
| Meaning isn’t understood | A spoiler that never names the show gets through. For a finale week, hide the section. |
Creators get a real keyword filter, and it changes what every viewer sees, not just you. According to YouTube’s comment settings help page:
The same settings page has a moderation level for potentially inappropriate comments (None, Basic, Strict or Hold all), an option to hold comments with links, and a hidden users list for people whose comments you don’t want shown on your channel.
| FeedCut word list | Studio blocked words | |
|---|---|---|
| Whose comments | Any video you watch | Only your channel |
| Who stops seeing them | You | Everyone, until you approve |
| Close matches | Exact text, case and styling ignored | Also “closely matching” terms |
| Live chat | No | Yes |
| Phone and TV apps | No, desktop browsers only | Yes |
Not as a viewer. The app has no comment filter, and extensions don’t run in it. Creators’ blocked words do apply in the app, because they hold comments before anyone sees them.
FeedCut leaves live chat alone. On your own channel, Studio’s blocked words also block live chat messages that contain or closely match them.
No. FeedCut only changes what your browser shows you. Nothing is reported, deleted or sent to YouTube.
No. FeedCut has one word list, and it applies to video titles, channel names and comments alike. Pick words you’d be happy to lose in both.
