How to block YouTube channels from search results
YouTube has no way to remove a channel from your search results. “Don’t recommend channel” only affects Home and Up next, so the same creator keeps turning up whenever you search the topic. FeedCut hides a blocked channel’s videos, Shorts and channel card from search, and the results you came for move up.

Why search ignores your feedback
YouTube’s help page on recommendations describes “Not interested” and “Don’t recommend channel” as signals for what it suggests to you. Search is a different system. It ranks videos mainly by how well they match your words and how people respond to them, and a big channel that covers your topic will keep ranking, whatever you told Home.
So the channel you waved away on Monday is the first result on Tuesday, usually with the brightest thumbnail on the page.
How to block a channel from search with FeedCut
Search as usual
Type your query on youtube.com.
Press Block channel on a result
The button appears when you hover a video, and next to the channel card when the channel itself comes up.
Search again any time
The channel stays out of every search from now on, and out of Home, Up next and the comments too.
What disappears from the results
| In search results | After you block the channel |
|---|---|
| Its videos | Hidden |
| Its Shorts in the Shorts shelf | Hidden |
| Its channel card | Hidden, even when you search its name |
| Re-uploads by other channels | Shown. Block a word from the title to catch those |
When it’s a topic, not a channel
Sometimes no single channel is the problem. Search for a recipe and get a page of “I tried the viral…” videos from twenty creators. Blocking each one is slow. Block a word instead: “viral” or “I tried” removes the whole genre from your results, from every channel at once.
What YouTube’s own search tools can do
- Filters. The Filters button under the search box narrows results by type, length, upload date and features like subtitles. Useful, but it can’t exclude a channel.
- Pausing search history stops your past searches from shaping what YouTube suggests. It doesn’t remove a channel from the results.
- Searching signed out gives you results without your history. The channel you dislike is still there, since it was never about your history.
Questions
Why does a channel I marked “Don’t recommend” still show up in search?
Because that option is feedback for recommendations, not a filter. YouTube uses it to tune Home and Up next. Search ranks videos by your query, so the channel can still come out on top.
Does FeedCut hide the channel card at the top of the results?
Yes. When you search for a channel by name, its card is hidden along with its videos and Shorts, and the rest of the results move up.
Will YouTube show fewer results?
You’ll see fewer from that channel, which is the point. YouTube keeps loading more as you scroll, so the page doesn’t run dry.
Can I search for a blocked channel on purpose?
Pause FeedCut for 10 minutes, or unblock the channel from the panel. Both take one click, and a PIN, if you’ve set one.
