A BlockTube alternative that doesn’t need regex
BlockTube can block almost anything, as long as you know a channel’s ID and can write a regular expression. FeedCut handles the everyday part of that job with a button on YouTube: block a channel or a word once, and it’s gone from Home, search, Up next and the comments. Your BlockTube list comes along in one import.

The everyday BlockTube job, without the settings page: press Block channel on a result, then switch tabs.

Stay with BlockTube if you rely on regular expressions, filters by video length, or Firefox on Android. Switch to FeedCut if you mostly block channels and words and would rather do it from YouTube itself, with a list you can read at a glance.
Why people look for an alternative
BlockTube is a serious tool with a long history, and it’s free and open source. The reasons people leave are mostly about everyday use:
- The settings are written for programmers. Lists take channel IDs and patterns. The usual advice is to copy a channel’s ID out of the address bar, which works but isn’t how most people think about a channel.
- Fixes take time. The GitHub project had more than 480 open issues in November 2026. A friendlier options page, sync and an allowlist are still on its to-do list. If yours has stopped hiding things, try our BlockTube checklist first.
- Reviews are mixed. The Chrome Web Store listing shows 3.9 stars, with about 100,000 users.

What BlockTube does better
BlockTube
- Regular expressions for rules no word list can express.
- Filters by video length, handy for hiding everything under a minute.
- Open source, so you can read exactly what it does.
- Runs in Firefox on Android, for the mobile website.
- Years of history and a large user base.
FeedCut
- A Block button wherever a channel appears, including comments.
- A list with names and avatars instead of IDs and patterns.
- Switches for Shorts, the Home feed, Up next and comments.
- Spoiler mode: blur a matching video instead of hiding it.
- Edge and Opera stores, alongside Chrome and Firefox.
Both filter YouTube’s data before the page is drawn, so neither makes blocked videos flash in and out. That’s the part BlockTube got right early, and FeedCut keeps it.
How to move your list
Export from BlockTube
Open BlockTube’s options and use its export to save your settings as a file.
Import into FeedCut
In FeedCut’s settings, choose Import and pick the file. Channels and plain words are added to your lists.
Check what was skipped
FeedCut lists any regular expressions it couldn’t use. Most turn into one or two plain words.
Turn BlockTube off
Running two blockers on the same page works, but it makes it hard to tell which one hid what.
Who should stay with BlockTube
If your list is mostly patterns like “anything with ‘reacts to’ followed by a number”, or you depend on hiding videos by length, BlockTube does things FeedCut deliberately doesn’t. The same goes if you browse YouTube in Firefox on your phone. For everyone else, the question is simple: would you rather write rules, or press Block?
Questions
Is BlockTube still maintained?
Its Chrome Web Store listing shows an update in February 2026, and its GitHub project had more than 480 open issues in November 2026. It works for many people; how quickly problems get fixed is the open question.
Can FeedCut use my BlockTube regular expressions?
No. FeedCut matches plain words, with an optional whole-word setting. When you import a BlockTube list, channels and plain words come across, and FeedCut shows which patterns it skipped so you can turn them into words.
What happens when I open a blocked channel?
BlockTube sends you to YouTube’s home page. FeedCut shows a short “You blocked this channel” page with Back and Unblock buttons, so you know why the page is empty.
Is FeedCut free?
Yes. Every feature, with no limit on channels or words. No account either.
Take YouTube back to what you came for
