How to block a single YouTube video

A regular YouTube account can’t block one video. “Not interested” removes it from the feed you’re looking at, but the same video can come back in search or in Up next. With FeedCut you choose Block video from the ⋮ menu, and that one video is gone from every list while the rest of the channel stays.

The demo blocks whole channels: press Block channel and switch tabs to see how hiding works. In FeedCut, the ⋮ menu also has Block video for just one upload.

What YouTube lets you do

  • Not interested. In the ⋮ menu on Home and in Up next. The video leaves that feed and YouTube adjusts what it suggests. Search ignores it, and so do links.
  • Report. For videos that break YouTube’s rules. It isn’t meant for “I never want to see this again”, and nothing changes on your screen.
  • Block in YouTube Kids. The app can block a single video for a child’s profile. It doesn’t affect youtube.com.

That leaves a gap. If one video keeps surfacing, maybe a clip that upsets your kid or a spoiler-heavy thumbnail for a show you’re watching, there’s no switch that simply makes it go away.

How to block one video with FeedCut

  1. Open the ⋮ menu on the video

On Home, in search results or in Up next. FeedCut adds its own items to the menu YouTube already shows.

  2. Choose Block video

The video disappears right away, from that list and from every other one.

  3. Undo whenever you like

Use Undo in the message that appears, or find the video later in FeedCut’s settings under Videos.

Video, channel or word?

A single-video block is the narrowest tool FeedCut has. Sometimes it’s exactly right, and sometimes a wider one saves you work.

Block a…Best for
VideoOne upload you never want to see again, from a channel you otherwise like
ChannelA creator whose videos you keep skipping anyway
WordA topic that turns up across many channels: a show’s finale, a viral story, a game you don’t play

Re-uploads and clips

FeedCut recognizes a blocked video by its ID, which never changes. That makes the block exact: it won’t accidentally hide a different video with a similar title. It also means a re-upload by another channel is a new video with a new ID, so it isn’t covered.

If a clip is spreading through reaction channels and compilations, block a word from its title instead. One word catches every copy, whoever uploads it.

If someone sends you the link, the video still opens. FeedCut cleans up the lists YouTube shows you; it doesn’t lock pages. For most people that’s the right balance. You stop stumbling on the video, and you can still watch it on purpose.

Questions

Can I block one video from my child?

In YouTube Kids, yes: the app’s Block option works on a single video. On a supervised account, YouTube lets parents block whole channels. On a shared computer, FeedCut’s Block video plus a PIN keeps it hidden.

Does blocking a video change my recommendations?

No. FeedCut hides the video on your screen and tells YouTube nothing. If you also want YouTube to learn from it, use “Not interested” as well.

Is there a limit on how many videos I can block?

No. Block as many as you need, on Free like everything else.

Does it hide the video on other websites?

No. FeedCut works on youtube.com. A video embedded in a news article or a blog still plays there.
