YouTube gives viewers no switch for comments. The one built-in route is Restricted Mode, which hides comments everywhere but also hides any video YouTube considers mature. FeedCut is more precise: hide the whole comment section with one switch, or keep comments and drop only the ones from channels and words you’ve blocked.

Turn on Hide comments to clear the section. Or block Spill Central from its comment and watch only that one leave.

According to YouTube’s help page, you can’t see comments on the videos you watch while Restricted Mode is on. To turn it on, click your profile picture, choose Restricted Mode at the bottom of the menu, and switch on Activate Restricted Mode.
The catch is in the name. Restricted Mode was built to screen out potentially mature videos, and it does that too. The filter is automatic and broad, so ordinary videos sometimes vanish along with the comments. It also applies per browser, so you set it again on each computer. More in our Restricted Mode guide.
It’s a reasonable fix for a school laptop. For your own browsing, it trades one annoyance for another.
Click the FeedCut icon in your browser’s toolbar.
The comment section disappears under every video. The video, its title and the description stay as they are.
Looking for a fix in the comments of a tutorial? Flip the switch back, or pause FeedCut for 10 minutes.
Plenty of comment sections are worth reading. The useful timestamp, the correction to a recipe, the person who solved the same bug. Usually the problem is a few voices, not the whole section.
Creators have real moderation tools, and they’re a different job. In YouTube Studio, the Blocked words list holds back comments that contain those words, and Block user on a commenter stops them commenting on your channel. Those settings change what your viewers see. FeedCut only changes what you see while watching.
There’s no comments setting for viewers. Restricted Mode hides them as a side effect, along with any video YouTube flags as mature. An extension like FeedCut can hide them on their own.
Restricted Mode is on in this browser, or your school, office or network switched it on for you. Turn it off from your profile menu. If it’s locked by a network, only its administrator can change that.
Yes. When a comment is hidden, its replies go with it. Replies from a blocked channel are also hidden under anyone else’s comment.
No. FeedCut handles the comment section under videos. Live chat on streams is left alone.
Block channels, words and Shorts everywhere on YouTube. Free, no account, nothing leaves your browser.
